A Green Wedding

EcoInvitations2.jpg Your wedding day is speeding towards you and you are trying to figure out how to make it the perfect, wonderful day that you have dreamed of since you were a child. The problem is you are not sure just what that is anymore. The truth is, very few people can afford the fairy tale weddings that they imagine while growing up or the ones they see on television.

You may have dreamed of it since you were a little girl, but the finances are just not there. This could be the perfect time to have a green wedding. Make your special day meaningful as a gesture to the world that you want to leave your children and grandchildren - and do it all on a budget you can live with!

A green wedding is a very simple concept. All you do is keep the environment in mind while making all the preparations. Large gatherings of people can upset the balance of certain ecosystems and waste can be the name of the game during preparation and execution of the ceremony. Think about the paper waste from invitations and all of those pesticides that are commonly used on the grass for outside ceremonies or receptions.

There are many things you can do to ensure an environmentally as well as economically sound green wedding. When shopping for rings, making your reception plans, and selecting a caterer consider the “greenness” factor, as all these areas can be green activities.

The easiest part of your green wedding will be in the clothing. Many brides choose to wear dresses made of all natural fibers. Others will choose something they already have that can be altered or will be worn again. Wedding dresses are indeed beautiful, but they are also a waste. Many brides have their heart set on a brand new dress and if that is you, then try to choose something that can be worn again to other events, even if you have the dress altered at a later date.

Take these things into account when planning and executing a green wedding. And don’t forget, being green shouldn’t hold you back from having creative wedding ideas!
