Why Wedding Favors?

yhst-96972159295690_2083_56373342.gif You may ask yourself; do I need wedding favors for my big day? You may have even heard from friends or read online that wedding keepsakes are not am essential wedding item. However, wedding giveaways are tokens of your gratitude, and they usually are a gesture that is well received by guests.

The custom of giving favors at a wedding dates back centuries, and so these days they are considered a tradition. So if you are a traditionalist at heart, this may be a great opportunity for your to keep a tradition and make your guests happy at the same time!

Wedding favors, in their simplest form, are a gesture of "thanks" toward your guests who have traveled (some near, some far) to attend your wedding day. Often couples get "lost" in the whirlwind of activities during the wedding day - and sometimes it’s not possible to chat with every guest who is in attendance. By placing a nice favor at each table setting, you are showing your guests you thought of them and are glad that they are there.

Another thing you should think about is that your wedding thank you notes are often sent out weeks, sometimes even months after the event. Why wait months to thank your guests? Wedding etiquette dictates that thanking your guests should be done promptly - and wedding keepsakes fulfill that, however, they should never be used as a substitution for hand written thank you notes.

If you are concerned about your budget – don’t fret. Wedding favors come in a variety of price ranges, and one is sure to fit your budget. If you feel that your wedding giveaways may be left behind by guests, then think about these two things. First, if you give them something you would use in your own home, chances are your guests will take it home. And if you are still not sure what to give, edible wedding favors such as chocolate, mints, or candy normally go over quite well and are relatively inexpensive.

So why wedding favors? Simply put, it’s the right thing to do. Show your guests you thought of them, and thought of every detail to make their attendance at your wedding memorable!
